The Monuments in Honor of Dr. Yoshio Mikami

広島市の中心百米道路の植え込みには、数多くの石碑がある。その中に三上義夫先生の顕彰碑がある。また、県北の市、安芸高田市にある甲立小学校の校庭の一隅にもある。 先生は安芸高田市のご出身で、中国数学を世界に紹介した最初の人だといわれている。世界中の科学史家にはよく知られた先生であるが、一般の人には余り知られていない。
Dr. Yoshio Mikami was the first person who introduced Chinese mathematics to Western countries, who was from Akitakata in Hiroshima Prefecture. But most people do not know of him except for science historians. There are two monuments in honor of him in Hiroshima Prefecture. One of them is located in the green belt of Peace Boulevard in the center of Hiroshima. And another is on the school grounds of Kodachi Elementary School in Akitakata.
